Koinobori is a carp streamer in Japanese.

In Japan, there is a custom of decorating carp streamers with the wish of a boy’s success.

Carp is said to be a creature with strong vitality and good luck.

There is a legend called “Koi no Taki Climbing” that a carp climbed a waterfall against a torrent and became a dragon and went up to heaven.

The parents who are blessed with sons decorate a carp streamer with a hope that the boy will be as strong as a carp and will be successful during the days of ‘child day’ on the 5th of May.

It would be a meaningful gift to give to a couple who have son/s.
