Framed Japanese Silk Fabric Iwaizuru 祝鶴

The feature of this silk fabric is Tsuru – a Japanese bird crane.  Three flying cranes are beautifully described along with the wide ribbons as if they are aiming for the heaven.

The base colour is light version of Kodai murasaki – light dusted purple.

Some gold leaves are scattered on some ribbons and other ribbons have a pattern of Kiku (chrysanthemum) and Matsu (pine trees).

Beautiful bokashi method (gradation technique) is used on the Tsuru (crane bird) and some of Kiku (chrysanthemum).

Tsuru – bird crane is a symbol of longevity.  Matsu (pine trees) and Kiku (chrysanthemum) are often designed in Japanese crafts due to auspicious pattern.

– The mounting (border) is acid free made with paper and cotton
