Experience the elegance of Japanese tea culture with this handmade Akebono Sakura Matcha bowl, crafted by master artisan Kondo Seisen (近藤清泉).
Kondo Seisen trained under the first-generation Seisen and inherited the family kiln in 2009.
His expertise lies in Mishimade (三島手), Gohonde (御本手), and openwork carving (透かし彫り), techniques that combine precision with warmth, earning him a strong reputation among collectors and tea ceremony practitioners.
This Kiyomizu-yaki (清水焼) piece showcases the timeless beauty of Kyoto’s pottery tradition, originating from the Gojōzaka district near Kiyomizu Temple, with a history dating back to the 16th century.
Design Highlights
– Softly shifting pale glaze, evoking the gentle light of dawn (Akebono)
– Hand-painted Sakura (cherry blossoms) on both the outside and inside of the bowl
– Artist’s stamp (Kondo Seisen) on the base as a mark of authenticity
A perfect gift for Japanese tea lovers, art collectors, or anyone who appreciates traditional craftsmanship.
