Experience the art of Japanese tea brewing with this handcrafted Tokoname Kyusu teapot by ceramic artist Tomohiro Sawada.
Made in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, this teapot represents one of Japan’s oldest pottery traditions. Tokoname ware (常滑焼) is one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan, with a history dating back to the 12th century, and is renowned for its iron-rich clay and exceptional craftsmanship.
This elegant Kyusu features a beautiful lustre that subtly changes with the light, while its gentle curves create a refined and timeless appearance.
The built-in ceramic tea strainer allows tea leaves to fully unfurl, helping you extract the authentic flavour and aroma of Japanese loose leaf tea. The wide opening makes it easy to remove used tea leaves and clean the teapot after use.
Tokoname’s iron-rich clay is traditionally believed to soften the taste of tea by reducing bitterness, allowing the natural sweetness and umami of the leaves to shine through.
