What Is a Kokeshi Doll?

A Kokeshi is a traditional Japanese wooden doll, hand-carved from natural wood and characterized by its simple form with no arms or legs. Despite its minimal shape, each Kokeshi carries deep cultural meaning and showcases the refined craftsmanship of Japanese folk art.

There are two main types of Kokeshi dolls:

Traditional Kokeshi (伝統こけし)

Creative Kokeshi (創作こけし)
