What is Kakishibu?

柿渋 Kakishibu is a Japanese traditional natural dye made from un-ripened Japanese persimmon (Kaki) which has a history of more than 1000 years.

It is a Japanese art of dyeing, a method without chemicals, 100% natural and there are many benefits such as anti-bacterial and water-proof thanks to the main component ‘Kaki tannin’ (polyphenol).

What is Ai-Shibu-Zome?

Natural indigo dye was layered with Kakishibu dye and brought out this vintage look and a beautiful dark blue colour.

This method is called 藍渋染め Ai-shibu-zome – unique combination of Indigo and Kakishibu dye.

It is a cute pencil case you can also carry in your small hand bag!
