This is a shallow Matcha bowl made in Mino Gifu prefecture of Japan.
The characteristic of Mino ware is that there are various types. Mino ware does not have only one type, 15 types are designated as traditional crafts.
As for this Matcha bowl, two kinds of glazes were used inside and outside of the bowl.
This Matcha bowl has a wabi-sabi atmosphere and the colour of this Matcha bowl is similar to the Japanese traditional colour Kakishibu-iro.
Kakishibu-iro is a grayish, yellow-red colour that is made by squeezing Kaki fruits (persimmons) before they are colored for dying Kimono.
The bowl is pleasantly light and it is ideal to drink from the bowl with two hands after whisking Matcha with a Matcha bamboo whisk, which is an authentic way to have Matcha tea in Japan.
